If you’ve ever had the pleasure of being different, you are my kind of people.
I have always lived in a bigger body which was tough for a 90’s kid trying to take dance seriously. I was extremely lucky to have a dance mentor, Miss Donna, who welcomed me when most of the dance world (and even some of my own classmates) did not. Despite a parade of ignorance, tiny costumes, and tights that cut off circulation, I found my spark on the stage, and never looked back.
After over 30 years of recitals, I succumbed to injuries and chronic illness, closing the curtain on my dance career. I allowed my limited beliefs about what a dancer “should be able to do” to steal my passion. Thankfully, that is not the end of my story, simply the next chapter. Missing dance and finding strength together, the three of us decided to take a leap of faith and make a studio specifically designed to encourage and empower all dancers. My hope is that Dance 4 Every Body will be a place where all bodies can feel like both the art and artist. I’ll see you on the dance floor!
